Profile
Olympia Country & Golf Club
📍 Olympia, Washington
Set high above the southern edge of Puget Sound, Olympia Country & Golf Club blends the traditions of Northwest golf with the calm, coastal charm of Washington’s capital city. Established in 1926, the club has been a gathering place for generations of South Sound golfers, families, and community members looking for more than just a round—they come for the view, the vibe, and the rhythm of the game.
The course is private and member-owned, with 18 holes that wind through rolling hills, tall fir trees, and fairways that open up to unexpected saltwater panoramas. On a clear day, you can see the Olympic Mountains beyond Budd Inlet. On any day, you can feel the steady presence of the Sound—cool breezes, gulls overhead, and the occasional docked boat below.
A Layout That Demands Creativity
The course plays to a par 72 and just over 6,200 yards from the back tees—not long, but don’t let that fool you. The design rewards precision over power. Tee shots need to be placed, not just pounded. Greens are compact, quick, and often sloped in ways that favor touch and experience.
You’ll encounter elevation changes, tree-lined approaches, and a few risk-reward decisions that make every round memorable. It’s a course that plays differently with each season—and sometimes with each breeze off the water.
This is a walker’s course, but with enough challenge to keep even experienced players focused from start to finish. There’s nothing flat about Olympia C&GC—either in terrain or personality.
More Than Golf
Olympia Country & Golf Club is about more than the scorecard. It’s a full-service club built around connection and quality. Members enjoy access to a full-length practice range, a putting green, and short-game areas perfect for sharpening your touch. Instruction and junior programs are available seasonally, and league play is an important part of the club’s rhythm.
The clubhouse sits at the heart of it all, with panoramic views, indoor and outdoor dining, and flexible event space for everything from small gatherings to large weddings. The on-site restaurant is open to members and their guests, offering casual meals, weekend specials, and one of the best sunset views in Thurston County.
There’s even something you won’t find at most clubs: dock access. Yes, you can arrive by boat. It’s one of those rare details that makes Olympia C&GC feel distinctly Northwest.
A Club With History and Heart
Since its founding nearly 100 years ago, Olympia Country & Golf Club has been a fixture in the region’s golf community. It has hosted countless regional tournaments, charity events, and social gatherings—each one rooted in tradition and carried forward by members who care deeply about the course and each other.
It’s not the biggest club in the state, but it’s one of the most enduring. With its intimate size, thoughtful programming, and location that truly sets it apart, Olympia Country & Golf Club is a standout in the Washington golf landscape.
