Gig Harbor Golf Club: Community, Camaraderie, and Classic Northwest Golf
Tucked into the wooded hills of Gig Harbor, just minutes from the Puget Sound, Gig Harbor Golf Club (GHGC) is more than just a place to play—it’s a private, member-owned course that has quietly upheld the values of community, tradition, and approachable golf since 1961.
Founded by a group of local golf lovers in 1954, GHGC was built on the shared dream of creating something timeless for the South Sound. Through the sale of 127 membership shares, that vision took shape—and today, the club remains committed to the same welcoming, close-knit experience it’s offered for generations.
Regulation-Length Golf, Northwest Style
GHGC is a 9-hole regulation-length course with multiple tee boxes, allowing golfers to play a full 18-hole experience without leaving the property. The layout balances challenging play with scenic beauty—including incredible views of Mount Rainier, especially from Holes 7 and 9.
Whether you’re walking a quick nine after work or spending a full day out with friends, GHGC offers an experience that feels like home—never rushed, never crowded.

A Closer Look at the Course
GHGC’s layout blends strategy and elevation with a strong sense of place. From short, tree-lined par 3s to risk-reward par 5s, the course offers plenty of variety. Here’s a glimpse into what you’ll find across a full 18:
🏌️ Hole Highlights
Hole #1/10 (Par 5, 400–440 yds): A generous fairway invites strong openers, but watch out—go too far left or right and you’re OB. The green is two-tiered and slick.
Hole #3/12 (Par 4, 315–380 yds): A dogleg left requiring precision off the tee. Miss long, and you’re scrambling for par.
Hole #5/14 (Par 3, 104–171 yds): Don’t underestimate this uphill par 3—it plays long and punishes mishits.
Hole #7/16 (Par 5, 444–509 yds): The club’s signature hole. Downhill with a Rainier view, and a green that demands a smart layup.
Hole #9/18 (Par 4, 278–305 yds): A steep uphill finisher where your best tee shot—and your best nerves—are needed to close strong.
Every hole has a story. Many have elevation. And nearly all require at least one smart decision.
The Practice Experience
Unlike most 9-hole clubs, GHGC delivers top-tier practice facilities. The full-length driving range is ideal for working through your bag, and the recently renovated short game area—designed by course architect Kip Kalbrener—offers thoughtful space to hone approach shots, chip work, and putting.
Why Members Stay
GHGC offers what few clubs in Washington can:
No tee time madness
Unmatched pace of play
A community of familiar faces
And a course that you’ll want to play every week—not just for the golf, but for the people.
This isn’t country club golf. It’s neighborhood golf done right.
