Tahoma Valley Golf offers dry fairways and Rainier views in Yelm
Located a mile west of downtown Yelm, Tahoma Valley Golf and Country Club unfurls across sandy soil that drains quickly even after a Puget Sound downpour. Players walk eighteen holes under open sky with Mount Rainier hovering beyond the tree line. Built in the early 1960s and updated over the decades, the course leans on firm turf and subtly contoured greens to keep regulars honest while staying friendly for newcomers.

Tahoma Valley Golf Course Overview
Tahoma Valley routes two nines over gently rolling ground once planted in hay. Wide fairways encourage driver yet scattered fir and alder punish the wayward. Five par fives balance five par threes so scoring swings come fast. Views of Mount Rainier appear from nearly every tee box, and the inland breeze that drifts from Nisqually Valley can add or subtract a club. Greens are modest in size with fall-offs that feed chips into tight lies. Because the base is a deep layer of river sand the surface stays playable through winter, making the course a popular refuge when wetter tracks close.
